Then I introduced myself. If you would like to know more about me check out my blog!

Moala - Diorama

This Week St Patricks Whanau has made a diorama about Sand Dunes in Tahuna Torea. We first had a cardboard box and a fruit tray. We first grabbed to coloured paper green and a brownish paper. Malia and I cut the coloured paper into little strips and twirled them around and put some of them down instead of all of them up. We then grabbed scissors and curled the paper so it looked like a speckled sedge. We also made a tussock and did the same thing we did for the Speckled Sedge. We then coloured the cardboard blue and a sand colour. We made a couple of seaweed and put a little bit of sand and rocks on the fruit tray. We coloured the fruit tray a sand colour. While making the diorama I learnt more about Sand Dunes. About the different type of plants and the environment. Like Karaka, Karaka is a native plant to New Zealand it is green and orange and glossy above and under and are curly. Lisiate made a crab because while he was at the Sand Dunes he saw a crab and decided to draw one. Solomon also made two birds and stuck them to the box. I have made a couple of words that relate to the Sand Dunes environment and stuck them to the box. After making our dioramas we explained what we made and everything about Sand Dunes. Here is the final results! (we made this out of paper).

I used Place Value to solve this problem.
First I split 123 into 100's 10's and 1's and times then by 4 when I get my answer I add them altogether and that's my answer.

What was this article about?

My group and I were chosen to go outside and look at the different plants in our school. We first started at the hedge then the garden then to the gigantic tree then the back of the playground. After looking at the plants we went back inside and wrote on a huge paper about the plants we saw and about it like how good the soil is. Ms. Tui gave us a video to watch about plants. We watched together with the other people who were watching video 1. The next day we watched all the videos again and got all the hard words that we didn't understand and did a glossary and did what the meaning of the words mean. Here is my activity!

Mother's Day Mass

Today we had a very special mass. We were celebrating Mother's Day. We had some of our mothers come in and celebrate with us.

In class this week we made our very own Mother's Day cards. Mrs. Palu used the glider to cut the red paper once we've got our red paper we folded it in half. Mrs. Palu also cut stripes of paper, with that piece of paper we started quilling it. Quilling is when you roll the paper to the end then let it go it looks really nice. We first used a pencil and drew out a heart then we used PVA glue and glued it on the inside of the heart. Once we were finished with that we used a long strip of paper and used that as the outline of the heart.

I wrote two card for my Grandma and Mum!

Results -

In my card I wrote I know my mum loves me because when I am sad she gives me the biggest hugs ever and it makes me feel loved and warm.
I appreciate my mum because she always helps me with my maths when my brothers refuse to help me.
I appreciate my mum because she buys me new clothes even though I don't need it.

For my Grandma I wrote - I appreciate my nena because she would always make me laugh by making these silly faces.
I know my nena loves me because whenever she is sick I would always make her tea and toast for her breakfast.
I appreciate my nena because she would give me company when I am alone.

All our card together!

Moala Lesson 1 - Oropūare and Orokati (Vowels and Consonants).

Today for Maori we were learning about The Māori Language, vowels, consonants. The Māori alphabet is made up with eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. In Māori when there is a tohu tu (macron, hat) you have to drag the word like ngaaa. There is also a song that relates to Orokati Consonants (the letters that aren't in the vowels).

Example: keke with no macrons means cake, and kēkē with macrons mean armpit.

Here is the lyrics (not really lyrics).
