Joan Wiffen and her Fossils

For Science we did research about Joan Wiffen and her fossils. Her first fossil that she found was a tail bone of a theropod dinosaur. Joan Wiffen was born on the 4th February 1922 and passed away on the 30 June 2009.

Moala - Kiwi Flag Tournament

On the 26th of March TWP 4&6 went to Dunkirk to play Flag. We drove to Dunkirk on a bus. We made sure everyone was on the bus and also we had all the stuff. We all jumped off the bus and went towards the field and set up the tents and the gazebo. After setting up the tents and gazebo we put all our bags on the big giant blue gazebo we all decided to practise our passing and kicks. Some took some photos some were still practising. We had to wear the Kiwi Flag shorts so we had to go up the long mountain (it was so tireing) grabbed our shorts went to the bathroom and put on our shorts. We returned and started practising again like passing the pall and running while passing the ball. The boys were the first one to play was Team A&B they played a really good game but Team A won it was five to three. After ten minutes the girls played, we played against Sylvia Park we played against Sylvia four times. The first game we sadly lost to Sylvia Park the score was one to six. After playing we took a break and ate because were starving. The boys then had another game against Panmure District sadly they lost. We then played against Sylvia Park again we sadly lost again. After our game the boys played against Sylvia Park they lost again. We played against Syliva Park and lost. Until it was the last game it wasn't tag it was another game (not sure was it was called). It was a tie. We all felt exhausted after the game because we had headaches. We packed all our stuff and went to the shade because we were waiting for the bus we were playing around. We all went back finally!

Moala - How Maui Slowed the Sun/Weaving Paper and Drawing

On the 14th of April my class and I were about to go to The Ki O Rahi Tournament unfortunately it started raining so we hopped back on the bus and went back to school. My teacher (Ms. Nees-Kairua) decided to know how How Maui slowed the sun after knowing how Maui slowed the sun. Palu used the grinder and grind the paper into stripes we used it to weave the paper. Here is a video. After weaving the paper Ms. Nees gave us different parts of the story and drew our part! We first drew it in pencil lightly then used vivid to out line it.

Moala - Cybersmart Challenge #8

Today I did Cybersmart Challenge #8. Cybersmart Challenge is similar to Cybersmart Challenge #7. Challenge #8 is about knowing how to use your tools. Today we had to create a animation. I created a boat, I added more like a background to go with the boat and waves because the boat is in the ocean so I added waves. I used Poly line on my tools to create my shapes, I also used Auto draw. It took my quite some time to do the animation part. So after I created my boat and did the background and added the waves I copied the slide and moved the boat little by little until the boat was off the page. I also moved the cloud to make it look a bit better. Overall I really like Cybersmart Challenge #8 I am really looking forward to the next Challenge!

Pablo Picasso Art - Cubism Final Drawing

Last month we began our cubism portraits based on Pablo Picasso's cubism art. In cubism you can ply around with lots of shapes. The facial features like your mouth, nose, eye, ear could be in different shapes and different places. Before completing our final drawings we did two practices (go on my blog to see the two practices, it also has the steps on how to make a Picasso art if you would like to also like to draw a Pablo Picasso Cubism Art Pablo Picasso Attempt #1 Pablo Picasso Attempt #1).

Something I found interesting was making different shapes and putting them on different places because normally that have a specific place where they are. 

I found colouring my my art because it took ages! but I finally I got through it!

For my picture I want to focus on letting go by trying not to keep my drawing perfect.

Moala - Google Drawn Fish

Cybersmart Challenge #7 was about knowing how to use your tool bars. I used the tool bar to use the shapes to create a fish and added a underwater background. I first clicked a button with a square and a circle. I clicked shapes then I chose the shape I wanted for the fish body and carried on making the fish. I added more things to make it look like it is underwater! So Far this is my favourite Cybersmart Challenge. Check it out!

Lent

Yesterday and Today for R.E we were learning about Lent. In New Zealand the season for us in Lent is Autumn and in other countries it is spring. I did two activities about Lent. I created a Y chart and answered questions about Lent. Check out my activity!

Cybersmart Challenge #6 Tidy Drive

 Today for Cybersmart we have done another cybersmart challenge. This challenge number is 6. This Challenge was about cleaning your drive and putting them into the right folders naming your documents. I really liked putting the things in order which is the 2nd slide I liked putting them in order. I didn't really like sorting our John's stuff well I did like it because I had some technical difficulties. Overall I really liked doing this challenge! Maybe you should clean your drive (it took me quite a long time to do mine). Check out my activity.

Moala - The Maori Gods

 Today we have learnt about the Gods that Rāngi and Papa made. 

There are so many gods but here are the ones I have learnt Tūmatauenga, Tāwhirimatea, Tānemahuta, Tangaroa, Haumiatiketike, Rongomātāne, Rehua, Rūaumoko.

Tānemahuta is the son who separated Rāngi and Papa.

Something I found hard was trying to get all the macrons on the letters.

That was really the only things hard about it!

Wonderopolis - What Is a Concussion?

I have read an article on Wonderopolis. Wonderopolis has two different activities. There is also a article that you can read and know more about what you wanna know. If you do not know the definition of the word. Like gear or unique the word would be highlighted in yellow. You can hover your mouse over it and it will show you the definition. 

I played two activities about the topic. The article I read was about Concussion. Preventing a concussion is by hitting your head on something hard like the floor. Your brain would go deep into your skull. If the soft tissue of your brain makes contact with the hard bony inside of your skull, you will start to lose consciousness. You may start to see stars and feel dizzy. Your brain's impact with your skull can change the way your brain works for a while. A concussion may last for a few hours to several day or weeks.

Prehistoric Life Dinosaurs

Today for Science we were learning about Dinosaurs. The three period of times are Cretaceous, Jurassic, Triassic.

Cretaceous - Cretaceous is a geological period from about 145 to 66 million years ago.Cretaceous is the third and final period of the Mesozoic Era.

Jurassic - Jurassic is a geological and system that spanned 56 million years ago. The Jurassic constitutes the middle period of Mesozoic Era.

Triassic - (252-201 Million years ago) The Triassic Period stared after the earth's worst ever extinction. It took place 252 million years ago ad was the most significant events in the history of our planet.

Soul Friends

This week St Pius X Catholic School has been doing Soul Friends. Soul Friends was made by The Holy Faith Sisters. We have been doing Soul Friends for about 10 years. My Soul Friends are Ariah and Patricia. Patricia wasn't there but Ariah was. Ariah made me a card it had red glitter on the outside. It looked very nice. Soul Friends was made by The Holy Faith Sisters. Soul Friends is about being a role model to them and looking after them when they are by themselves.

Statistics

After we did our maths because they were the only ones we did today we moved on to statistics. This activity was pretty easy. I have learnt the key words like mode mean median and data set. Check out my DLO that I made!

Maths Starters and Activity

For maths we started off with our Maths Starters. The Maths Starters looks the same as the other one I did it is very simple. You just have to add the tags o the things like the ruler, pencil and pen. You put your total on the little box next to it! We also had to do word problems. It was a bit hard for me to do because I had to write the sentences down but I just did the equation. Check out my work!

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

This week TWP 4 whanau have been talking about Praying to Holy Spirit. My teacher has put up lots of prayer for us to write down on our google drawings. I have chosen Spirit of Self Control and Spirit of Gentleness. I chose these ones because I should practise more on being gentle to others and change my attitude. Also to control myself. Cybersmart Challenge #5

Hi Everyone today's topic is about the Cybersmart challenge. Today's Cybersmart challenge is about knowing if you know how to upload a picture from your webcam onto a blog.

I had to follow steps those steps told me what to do first like upload the picture of the drawing I did then write down what I have drawn down and write some labels. I have also wrote down steps myself first here is my drawing that I have created! In this picture there are birds, trees, a sun, bushes, and grass. It took a while for me to colour and draw but I got through!

Pablo Piccaso Art - Cubism Drawing #1

 Yesterday, the 9th of March Te Wairua Pakiki 4 (TWP4) did some art that is based on Pablo Piccasso. Pablo Piccasso was born on the 25th October 1881. Pablo Piccasso passed away on the 8 of April 1973. Pablo Piccasso first started drawing at the age of 13. Here are some of the artwork Pablo Piccasso have done!

In cubism you can play around with lots of shapes. The facial features like your eyes, nose, mouth, and ears can be in different shapes and places. Our teacher said "Cubism is that it looks as if the painting dropped and cracked, and was rearranged when put back together." When we looked at pictures we noticed that their were lots of shapes and the parts of it's face were big and small were small also their were lots of different colours. 

After our teacher demonstrated and we saw lots of examples it was our turn to draw.

Steps :

1. In pencil, draw your head, any shape will work. You can use a mirror or draw your from your imagination. 

2. Add your facial features, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. Try to use shapes you noticed in your discussion.

3. Add your hair. What lines can you use to look like your hair?

Maths Starters - Stationery Store

For maths Twp 4 first started off with maths starters. The maths starters I did you have to add the price tag. Like the first one Pencil + Ruler you have to look what the price is, the price for pencil is 0.30 and the price for ruler is 0.50. So 0.30 + 0.50 = 0.80 then I put my answer in the little box next to it.

After the Maths Starters I did my Maths Activity it was pretty easy because all I had to do was add and i'm pretty good at adding! Nothing in this Maths Starters or Activity was really hard.

But I am going to be doing Subtraction tomorrow hopefully I do a great job!

Proper Nouns

Hi Everyone, Today for writing we have been practising our grammar skills. We were focusing on Proper Nouns. Proper nouns are person, a place, a thing or an animal. A proper Noun is more specific about things like a Common Noun is a city and Proper noun is more specific and is Wellington.

The thing that I found easy was saying all the months listing the cities. I really enjoyed doing the word search because it was challenging 

I found trying to pick who are my best friends and  picking two of my family members. I wrote on a paper and put their names on it and pick them and whoever I picked would go on my blog but I couldn't pick out of my best friends so I did both but my family members were just pretty easy.

Cybersmart Challenge

 Today TWP whanau did a cybersmart challenge! This challenge was bout Bookmarks I first made a copy and started off with writing which one of the students had the most appropriate bookmarks. Then I screenshot ed my bookmarks and explained why I chose these websites as my bookmarks!

It was really easy because it was simple!
